Khutzeymateen Valley Sample Itinerary
The Khutzeymateen Inlet is one of British Columbiaís most northern glacial fjords, with characteristic steep cliffs, thick forests and rich estuary ecosystems. The Khutzeymateen Valley is Canadaís only grizzly bear sanctuary and is home to British Columbiaís most important coastal bear population.
  • Day 1- We will meet on the Prince Rupert dock. We depart Prince Rupert harbour for the beauty of Chatham Sound and its collection of islands.
  • Day 2 - 3 - We explore the islands of Chatham Sound, including Porcher, Stephens and Dundas Islands. We will walk remote beaches, hike up to a view point and search for sea lions, orcas and humpback whales.   • Day 4 - Khutzeymateen Inlet - We tie up Island Odyssey at a remote floating camp, and proceed by zodiac to see the famed grizzly bears of Khutzeymateen Inlet. Our trip focuses on bear viewing in the Conservancy, along the shores of the Inlet. In order to minimize our impact, we leave the Sanctuary at the head of the Inlet, to the bears.

Tour Includes: All meals from lunch on the first day to breakfast on the last day; all accommodation onboard ship; skipper, cook, naturalist; full use of all onboard facilities.
Not Included: Transportation to the start point and from the finish point of the trip; any accommodation or meals prior to the start of the trip or after the completion; travel or cancellation insurance; airport transfers and applicable taxes. The only money participants require during the trip is for optional purchases and gratuities for the crew.

In addition, Great Expeditions assumes no liability resulting directly or indirectly from any of the following causes: acts of God, detention, annoyance, weather, quarantine, strikes, civil disturbance, theft, government regulations, etc. over which it has no control. Great Expeditions reserves the right to substitute hotels and leaders and to alter the itinerary when deemed necessary or advisable. The right is also reserved to cancel any trip prior to departure upon refund of all payments received which shall release Great Expeditions from any further liability. Great Expeditions reserves the right to decline to accept or retain any person or member of any tour should personís actions or general deportment impede the operation of the tour or the rights or welfare or enjoyment of other members of the tour, and it is agreed a refund of the amount recovered from suppliers or unused land services is the limit of Great Expeditionís responsibility.

No carrier shall have or incur any responsibility or liability to any passenger or for property accompanying passengers, except for its liability as a common carrier. In particular, Great Expeditions advises the customer that any carrierís liability may be limited by its tariffs, conditions of carriage and international conventions and agreements.
